We're BLEST!!! (Blest is actually in the dictionary)

There's a song my mom used to sing at our home church in the 1980's that's been stuck in my head the last week. It's called "We're Blest!" I'm sitting in my living room, so blessed by the Lord, giving Him thanks for my loving husband, beautiful home, family, friends, etc. I am overwhelmed by His goodness today. Thanksgiving is an important thing to the Lord... Sometimes when I pray, I forget to "give thanks"; I just skip right over it to get to the prayer requests and "needs". But there are so many scriptures that talk about "thanksgiving". 3 quickly came to mind...

Psalm 100:4 "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise..."
Psalm 95:2 "Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms."

But perhaps the thanksgiving scripture that has always affected me the most is right in the middle of Philippians 4: 4-8..... "4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things."

Isn't it interesting when we come to God with our needs and prayer requests, we should also be thankful? When we come to God, He wants us not to worry or be anxious, but with heartfelt prayer and thanksgiving we make our requests known to Him (let Him know what our problems are). And the Bible says He will give you "the peace of God which passes all understanding!" Who doesn't want that kind of peace??? Actually, that peace "guards your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." I don't know if you need it, but I sure do!

Just thought I would share some thoughts and the song my mom used to sing. The lyrics are below. Be BLEST!!! :)

Chorus:
We're blest, we're blest, we're blest, we are blest
We've got shelter, clothing, and strength and we are blest
We're blest, we're blest, we're blest we are blest
We don't deserve it but yet we are blest
Oh, we don't deserve it but yet we are blest

Verse:
I don't know if you've stopped to think about life
But here's what I've found to be true
We always find the time to complain and be upset
But we never stop to think how we've been blest
Oh, we have everything we need to enjoy our lives
And seldom have to do without
Still we find it so easy to complain and cry
Even though we've been blest and blest and blest

Chorus:
We're blest, we're blest, we're blest, we are blest
We've got shelter, clothing, and strength and we are blest
We're blest, we're blest, we're blest we are blest
We don't deserve it but yet we are blest
Oh, we don't deserve it but yet we are blest

Verse:
Did you read in the news about the plane that fell
And how all the loved ones were lost?
Or do you have a friend who is sick and can't get well
If so, we should share how we've been blessed
Now do you know a little child with no food to eat
And its mother and father both are gone?
Well, it comes to my mind, we better stop and think
Of how we've been blest and blest and blest!

Corn Maze

We went to the corn maze in Oregon this past Saturday. The weather was overcast, but it was nice and cool. We had fun! We wanted to ride the hayride to the pumpkin patch, but we missed the last ride by 10 minutes. We needed to go this past weekend because our brother-in-law will be gone for the next 12 days. And the weekends in October are busy for the family. But, we may try to go again to catch the hayride. :)

I remember when Brandon & his family went to the corn maze & pumpkin patch last year. We were just talking then... getting to know each other. But I wished I had been with them. This year, I WAS! :) Yay!

Lacamas Lake

Here are some more pictures of Lacamas Lake. These were taken from "Lake Road", a road Brandon & I drive down frequently. I LOVE this view! My last post showed pictures of Lacamas Lake from the walking trail, which is at water level. But these pictures show the view I get to have multiple times a week. It's so beautiful!!! Labor Day Weekend

Brandon & I had a relaxing weekend. Well, a lot of it he spent working on his thesis, but we did enjoy our time together. :)

We started exercising this week. We walked 4 times. It's more like fast hiking. We have some very steep trails around here. They make your legs scream... especially out-of-shape legs. :)Ha...

We hiked on a beautiful trail for the 1st time this week. It's a trail that runs along Lacamas Lake. So pretty! Here are the views on that trail:

The picture below has Mount Hood right in the center. It still has snow on it. You may have to double-click to enlarge it in order to see it. It was hazy in the distance. I admit it is difficult to see.

Houses like this one line the ridge, facing the lake. Very nice houses with gorgeous views. Lacamas Lake reminds me of the scenic views in Sound of Music.

And... what walk would be complete without swinging at the park with your honey? I have always loved to swing! :)

On Saturday night, we went out for pizza and watched college football. It was great! Then, we went to one of our favorite places...Big Al's... to play games. Big Al's is similar to Dave & Busters or Jillian's in Houston. We love air hockey, skeeball and the Wheel of Fortune game. We play some others, but those are our top 3.

We both wore blue! :) I love matching...

My blue-eyed boy...So sweet!

Thought I would throw in a picture of my car. I love it! It's over a year old, but it still smells new and looks great! :)This was in the parking lot at Big Al's. There were the prettiest purple, pink & white flowers growing in the median flower beds. It was a great night!

Our 5-month anniversary

Brandon & I have been married 5 months today. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. We've had a great day. This is Brandon's last Friday to be off (the whole college was off on Fridays during the summer). We slept late and then went out for breakfast. After breakfast, we went for a scenic 40 minute drive to Dougan Falls. It's beautiful there! We walked some trails and took some pictures. It was so nice!

I also just spotted this on Yahoo news... It's an article about America's 10 Coolest Small Towns. I've been to #4 and #2. We stayed at a bed & breakfast in Astoria back in May and it was GREAT! :)
